Deborah "Devyn" Chuang is a Taiwanese-American filmmaker known for their work as a director, screenwriter, and producer. Their debut short film, Mom, if I Were a Vampire, premiered at NewFest in New York City before screening at over ten international festivals, including Taipei Film Festival. In 2023, they were named a semi-finalist for the New Voices Filmmaker Grant by NewFest and Netflix.
In 2024, their second short film, Strawberry Shortcake, premiered at the Vancouver International Film Festival, winning the Short Forum Award for Best Short Film. It was later screened at The Sitges Film Festival.
Born in Los Angeles and raised in Taipei, Devyn is currently pursuing an MFA in Film at Columbia University. Influenced by Italian and Japanese horror masters, they are especially drawn to the horror genre, exploring themes of identity and sexuality in their work.
