Yashna got her MFA in Screenwriting from the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television. Her writing has been recognized by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA), the Alfred P Sloan Foundation, Film Independent, the Museum of the Moving Image, among others.
Yashna writes character-driven dramas and dramedies, both series and feature, with the goal of telling authentic South Asian stories for a global audience.
