Key Payton is a multi-produced and top-ranked screenwriter and script consultant, in Los Angeles since 1990.
A wordsmithing story-lover since the age of 3.5, Key Payton has been acting, performing, writing, directing and producing for almost as long as he can remember.
Following an M.A. in journalism-with-a-spiritual-emphasis and many travels across the U.S. and the world, Key arrived in L.A. in the early '90s, as an experienced magazine writer-editor who also had performed in or co-produced dozens of amateur and professional stage shows.
Along the way, Key worked for several production companies, and at script-consulting services including Act One, FilmStew.com, and WritersFirst.com. He further trained with the Dramatica School for Complete Stories in Burbank, and is pending certification as a Dramatica Story Consultant.
He also judged for nine script contests -- including the AAA Script Contest, the Screenwriting Expo Script Contest, The Write of Passage Script Competition, and The Screenwriters Network's Carl Sautter Competition -- and taught writing classes for The 168 Project, Act One: Writing for Hollywood, The Master's College, and Biola University.
In 2009 Key opened his own script-consulting service, Keys2ScriptSuccess.com.
The very next year, Creative Screenwriting magazine ranked Key as in the top 15/top 10% of the script consultants in the nation, recommended as "Cream of the Crop" and very close in rank to script-consulting pioneer Dr. Linda Seger.
Now married to an actual L.A. native and settled here for more than 25 years, Key loves the sunshine and delights in helping potentially good stories become great films.
