My approach is to follow a process that keeps you on the rails. When I worked in the manufacturing industry I learned you can't play "not to lose" or try to overdo it and simultaneously work on several tasks mentally at the same time. That kind of overthinking leads to paralysis by analysis and critical mistakes. Your mind and attention have to be on the task at hand. Thus, the process is one project at a time, one hat at a time, one take at a time. That isn't to say that you can't have more than one film or television project in process or wear more than one hat on a film project, no not all, rather when you are on the set or working on a script your focus must be 110% on the task and film you are working on. In the end, you trust the process and you almost always will be successful.
