Earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree with Honors in Neuroscience from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia, with the thesis "Specification of the GABAergic and glutamatergic neurotransmitter phenotypes in Xenopus laevis" (Committee Chair Margaret Saha, Other Committee Members John Griffin, Paul Heideman and Christopher Del Negro). In its Honors Program the Neuroscience program awards one level of Honors to student research projects. The projects having been defended successfully, a copy of the thesis is deposited in Swem Library.
