Lisa's short drama, smokeBreak was the recipient of this year's prestigious DGC Award for outstanding direction in the Best Short Film category. Chosen for Women In The Director's Chair '22, Lisa Robertson is an award-winning, Toronto, filmmaker whose shorts are well travelled, including screenings at the AFI, The Goethe Institute for film in Ghana, TIFF Circuit, FeFF, VIFF, CBC and W Network. Her most recent short smokeBreak hits the festival circuit in 2023.
Lisa is an alumna of the CFC Director's Lab, CFC Short Film Program and CFC Prime Time TV Program as a writer with Virginia Rankin as story consultant. Lisa is an NSI Drama Prize Winner for directing and writing and studied acting and film production at MTU.
Her selected TV credits include: directing season 1 of Squeeze, story editing on 2 seasons of for CBC's hit follow comedy/doc Bollywed, co-creating, producing, directing, story editing and show-running Stock and Awe, an eight part scripted comedy, premiering on CTV to enthusiastic reviews. She has directed for CTV's Comedy Network with Head of Production, Sarah Fowlie and was the director, co-writer and producer of CTV's hour long doc And That's The Kind of Day It's Been which won its time-slot that year as the most-watched original CTV biopic/documentary. Apocalyptic Rant, a comedy which she created, directed, produced and co-wrote with the brilliant Mary Walsh, screened for a live audience in Halifax on CBC This Hour Has 22 Minutes.
A founding member of ARCA, Artists for Real Climate Action, Lisa is writing a climate emergency, dramatic comedy which just scored a wee bit of funding. She is part of the editing team for ARCA's new satirical web-series BOA which addresses green-washing and how it's blinding us to the deep evils the petroleum industry is wielding,
