Rick Gerard is an award-winning documentary, news, commercial, feature film and aerial cinematographer, producer, writer, and director with more than 45 years experience. Rick has also acted on stage and has had numerous small roles in Television programs and short films.
Moving the camera is Rick's passion. He is a MoVI Pro, Alta, Tero, DJI, and Steadicam owner-operator and a commercial pilot with thousands of hours of aerial filming experience from both helicopter and fixed-wing platforms. He began mounting cameras on aircraft in 1970 and still finds ways to rig and get amazing footage from anything that floats, has wings or wheels.
Rick is also an Adobe Community Professional specializing in After Effects, visual effects, and compositing. Rick has taught Effects and Compositing workshops at NAB Post Production world and on several college campuses.
Rick's father was Richard F. Gerard, a prominent contractor, former US Navy Seabee, and generally amazing human being. Rick's mother Joanna Gerard, Koester, was a professional dancer and dance instructor, worked for the federal government for several years and is now retired and living on the Koester family farm in Downey, Idaho.
