Rogelio Almeida Marquez was born in Torrance, California. At the age of
three, Rogelio's family decided to move back to the provincial
Encarnacion, Zacatecas Mexico. He grew up in this area until the age of
fifteen, when he decided to return to his country of birth to attend
school. Rogelio's goal was to attend a university. After graduating
from Duncan High School in 2002, Rogelio joined the United States Army
and served two tours in Iraq. Rogelio purchased a personal handy cam
with the intent of documenting his service in Iraq. It was during his
second tour in Iraq that Rogelio decided to pursue film directing.
Through independent research, Rogelio learned about production
equipment and basic film making. Rogelio taught himself to work his
digital camera, 35mm lenses, capture audio and work a multitude film
editing programs. "Yveete" is Rogelio Almeida's first film. Rogelio
Almeida has worked in Oklahoma City at the local Univision and
Telemundo affiliate TV stations. Rogelio Almeida was a film student at
Oklahoma City Community College under the guidance of Emmy winner Greg
Mellott and Oscar Award winner Gray Frederickson.
