Oasis: Champagne Supernova

With a kaleidoscope-like imagery, plenty of cuts and with the band performing in this set resembling a messy blue room, "Oasis: Champagne Supernova" is a great mystery to me.

It's one of those videos that never fade away from your memory, neither the song which is beyond explanation - heck, not even Noel Gallagher knows what's it all about. It's hard to explain or explore why is it good or why it's not, it's just one of those strange things where you feel completely comfortable, at ease, just floating around enjoying Liam's voice, Noel's guitar and Paul Arthurs' unforgettable use of a melodica; as in images it's a bearded Liam, sad for the most part and sometimes lying on the floor with open arms with the camera spinning time and again, making us dizzy at the same time other crazed and psychedelic images appear, some girls dancing as well.

A regular filmmaker with the band, Nigel Dick made a more mysterious/artistic contribution to Oasis with this clip unlike the other videos he provided for the group. He probably thought since the song is an enigma, the video must follow such trend. The basic is there as usual: a band making a performance of the song. What follows in between explodes into a myriad of elements and to each viewer might come an ideal to follow through. I think it's on the lines of a shift between sobriety and high/drunken state with the former being a representation more quiet and calm of the band (early stages of the song) with Liam's face being the main focus while the latter revolves around the band and their trippiest state of happiness, smiles all around, enjoying themselves while the camera moves frantically, never stopping. Many alternatives the clip offer and that's the greatest thing about it.

One of Oasis most memorable and priceless moments, with a song that greatly echoes through the years. 9/10
