OK, so I watched this pilot and I wasn't sure what to expect. Let's get a few things out of the way:
1. It's low-budget. So don't expect studio quality. Like, considering the fact that it's really low-budget, it's really good looking and the sound is solid. 2. It's weird. It reminds me of Kimmy Schmidt (in the sense that it's totally unrealistic but still enjoyable).
Those two things being said, I like this show. I think it's funny and clever. The girls are sweet and it's hard not to like them. It was cool to see legit actors in it, too, and not just a bunch of nobodies goofing around. They made the material work.
It's well written when you consider the limited resources. I can only imagine how they might have handled it had there been more opportunities/a bigger team. Look at any major sitcom and there's a room full of writers; I'm getting the vibe this was all one person.
I'm really impressed by the wardrobe. It adds to the "real" feeling. The sets could stand some work, but again, low budget.
I feel like this is a really good example of what everyone involved can do with probably a couple thousand dollars and a lot of ideas. They're all pretty young-seeming (high school characters...probably in their 20s) and I want to see what they're able to do in bigger projects. I think it's worth watching. As long as you acknowledge the fact that you're about to sit down to watch something unrealistic and low-budget.
