Several of the dog actors were rescue cases. Each one was adopted prior to the film's completion.

(at around 45 mins) When Lady and Tramp were on the river boat you can see the boat is traveling a lot faster than the the paddle can propel the boat, the boat is obviously driven by a propeller and the paddle is only there as a prop.

In the end credits, it reads during the scroll, "Every dog deserves a loving home. If you're ready for the commitment of pet ownership, please consider visiting your local animal rescue to find the right pet for you."
