I watched Little Con Lili at the Women in Comedy Festival presented by HBO this past May. It was one of 10-15 shorts that played and it was my absolute favorite! It also won the NBC Best in Fest award, so it was a favorite all around. It was so cool. As other reviewers have said, the characters are endearing. The main character is so sweet you just want to go on this journey with her. It reminded me of my own experience as a child. The film made me feel a bitter sweet nostalgia for my own childhood. The young girl playing the role of Lili was phenomenal. Really talented actress. I liked the production design and the costumes too. It was all very 1980s working class but without being "too 80s hip" it was all just right which is what made it feel so real. Great directing as well. I also really liked the contrast between the young girl's carefree after-school world with the mother's real life- working class problems. I thought the editing was nicely done. LOVED LOVED LOVED the way music was used in the short. And the credits were fabulous, they were like a nice dessert to a lovely meal! This short left me feeling good after watching it. Made me feel good about the essence of childhood, of being both naïve, and quick witted. Really sweet film. Well made!
