I had so wanted to like this. It seemed like a fascinating premiss, set virtually on the border with Poland and in an area of natural beauty, The town itself was picturesque too, although there were glimpses of Communist era tower blocks that the cameraman couldn't quite keep out of frame sometimes.
However the characters, their motivations and their behaviours were unconvincing. The local detective Butch is a maverick (of course). Nothing wrong with that except that his eccentricity, which extends to tramping over crime scenes and refusing to wear protective clothing when forensics are working, would not be tolerated in any police force in Western Europe. Viola had left Hamburg to come to this outpost and is clearly fleeing something or someone. This much is revealed right at the start.
The stalking side-story looked authentic at first but its culmination was exaggerated and not believable. It was not clear how the victim turned the tables. Nor was it at all realistic that the stalker got a job where he did.
The plots were pretty mundane. I'm not fantastic at solving crime stories but I got the miscreant in half of the episodes.
I watched through the series right to the end which is why I'm giving a four. But, as I often say, if we weren't still in lockdown (plus Ramadan on this occasion of watching), I probably would have given up after one or two of the shows.
