Milquetoast millionaire is about to be duped out of tons of money by swindlers, but good triumphs over evil and love saves the day.
A millionaire (Stu Erwin) is encouraged to leave his mansion and wander about the city to taste life. It's 1933 and people are desperate, In the park he sees people being auctioned to the highest bidder for a day's work. When a young woman (Susan Fleming) is on the block, a man offers a price and then sneers about what he'll do to her.
Erwin makes a high bid and wins her but also wins her old companion (Alison Skipworth) who lies and tells him they are mother and daughter. Skipworth makes a quick plan to marry Fleming off to the boob. But he's an easy mark and soon another couple of crooks are after his money as well.
Grant Mitchell and Gordon Westcott play the second set of crooks. Sidney Toler is the valet, and Tom Ricketts and Gertrude Norman are the ancient servants.
It's the kind of role Buster Keaton would have played in a silent film, but Erwin does well and seems to do a lot of his own stunts. Fleming has a hard Bronx accent. Skipworth easily steals the film.
