Shows the living conditions of Bavarian women in the second half of the 19th century. The plot is roughly based on the life of the author, Lena Christ, who had to leave her native village of Glonn to make a living in Munich as best as she could. Unlike her protagonist, Rumplhanni (rag doll Hannah), Lena Christ did not succeed in life. Rumplhanni shows the aspirations of a poor country girl who manages to make it in big town Munich.
