Boasting a supernatural premise that held promise, JEZEBEL is a routine porn film that could have been interesting. The temptation to shoot low was simply irresistible.
Film, as issued on DVD a decade ago by Nu Tech Digital, is unusual in boasting entirely different credits at front and back. It is introduced as being directed by Norma Yongar Jordan and produced by Bill Jordan from a William Jones script, yet just as prominently at the end has Joseph Blanski as director, Sam Norvell as producer and Jack Livingston the writer, all on the same print.
I guess there's not much to be proud of here. Ladye McCormick (nice alternate stage name for Pat Manning) in the title role is introduced, after attractive sunrise footage for the credits, as a blonde masturbating -soft-core at first but soon segueing to gynecological tight closeups. A gypsy woman gives her a 1,000-year-old elixir from the ancient city of Ebulon to drink, and before you can say Sam Raimi she's confronted by a strange dude in a cape who is a warlock (Neil Oakley, another 1-shot thesp).
Strobe light special effects here are cheap, as he listens to her fears of getting old and rewards her with a magical ability to remain appealing to men forever, rechristening her Jezebel.
Remainder of the film is a letdown, since it comes to resemble the usual strung-together stag loops format. Basically he has her iteratively inhabiting other human bodies, for the purpose of sex. That gives us a new cast each scene and an hour of sex filler.
Along the way are some diverting sequences, including: giving a blow job to a guy in a sports car while he's driving; portraying Roxy, who has sex with Ric Lutze (uncredited), then her roommate Anne (played by "Chris Landau"), who has a flair for deep throat. Other standouts are Susan Young as Sylvia and Cynthia Kolb as Mary, again hiding behind pseudonyms.
Film's literal climax is a girl in an orgy with four guys, giving them all blow jobs in a scene which starts off listlessly but ends with an exceptional quantity of jism sprayed on her face. I suppose fans of Rodney Moore will be especially turned on by this amazing forerunner of his "blast" videos made 20 years later.
Finale when it comes time for Jezebel to pay the devil his due is particularly heartless, with fairly decent horror movie makeup effects.
There's no reason on earth (maybe in heaven) why the anonymous filmmakers couldn't have made something of this fairly complicated but empty excuse for porn. Instead of emerging as pointless filler, a well-developed storyline on this basic story spine could have yielded a classic. Technical credits are proficient.
