Nanou a a seventeen-year old girl ,who lives in a nice house on the Marne river bank .She has a younger brother,and a dog called Rigobert (a nod to Enid Blyton's famous four's dog?).She enjoys swimming and the French team's coach,Madame Pujol urges her to develop her abilities ,for she may have the makings of a champion.
Paula Dehelly ,a seasoned actress,was convincing as the coach,leading her girls with hardness.But her protegees do not take her too seriously for they nickname her "tomato" for she is a fond of tomato juice.
