The Awakening

I watched many Duck Dumont features back in the Betamax/VHS era, including this Samantha Strong showcase, and he is quite underrated among porn directors. There is a simplicity and sincerity to this minor video that holds up well over 25 years later. Fortunately, it has been preserved on DVD by the late, equally underrated label Sin City.

It was made early in the label's history, and the transfer to DVD, though official (a Sin City DVD release over a decade later) seems to be from a VHS copy rather than a master. It is well-shot, with Samantha and the other femmes looking mighty beautiful.

Simple story has her visiting her cousin Cindy (voluptuous Tiffany Million), but finding the apartment empty with a note indicating Cindy is off to Palm Springs with her boyfriend Tom (Jonathan Morgan). Not to worry, these stars return for a threesome (incestuous) with Sam in the final reel.

After a jog and sexy shower, Sam in the role of Kelly becomes a voyeuse, watching the kinky neighbors have sex through their windows, aided by a handy pair of binoculars. This provides an adequate vignette format, and big breasts are featured as well as having a couple of svelte brunettes having sex too. Anal sex and fetish-gear complete the package.

Nothing special, but solid Old School Adult entertainment, leading to freeze frame on Sam/Beth's final line over the phone to a never-seen friend Rodney: "I ain't coming back to Kansas no more".
