Dale DaBone is the perfect choice as the noir hero of this unusual Adult sci-fi feature, owing its genesis perhaps to "Blade Runner" but taking an entirely different approach. Rather than the futuristic visual artistry of that Ridley Scott classic, cameraman/director Francois Clousot uses his small XXX budget to emphasize cogent storytelling instead.
Set on the day before New Year's Eve ushering in the year 2036, story has DaBone down and out in a dystopia where he has no future. He's working for a gangster, smoothly played by Eric Masterson, selling Virtual Reality consoles off the books, but likely to be offed (even on a whim) by Eric and his duplicitous henchman Chris Cannon, who pretends to be Dale's buddy.
Dee is an aspiring singer who was brought to Eric by Dale, and went with the money rather than having any loyalty to him. Downbeat mood is convincingly sustained, and refreshingly Clousot doesn't pull any punches in romanticizing our hero.
A couple of big names Dasha (pre-Vivid Video contract stardom) and Shay Sweet portray "The Suicide Twins", girls who service Eric in hopes of advancing their careers and an actress named Gianna has the lead role of Stella, Dale's only real helper. Credits are screwed up, with the character designations for Gianna and co-star Destiny Summers reversed in the end crawl.
Kudos to DCypher for a very fine script in this sleeper buried in the Sin City catalog. Classy production even features the timeless Narciso Yepes guitar theme from Clement's classic French movie "Forbidden Games".
