Riding Shotgun with Jack McConaha

This short film was recently posted on IMDb for viewing in the United States. Hopefully the rights can be worked out so that it will be possible to watch it on IMDb abroad.

The story of the life of Jack McConaha is just the sort of documentary I like. There is no narration. Instead, the man just talks about himself, his routine, and his opinions. While many might find this dull, I love these little portraits of everyday people. Jack is certainly NOT a shy retired guy living out his retirement--waiting to die. Instead, he's a member of a neighborhood watch in the Mojave Desert where he lives. And, in this capacity, he rides his SUV across the barren landscape with his .45 and a desire to help others and do good. He isn't some crazy cowboy--just an odd but decent man out to make his community (such as it is) a good place to live.

Well produced and filmed (with music that really matched the setting and action), the film makers managed to create an interesting portrait out of a seemingly ordinary man.
