Meat the Campbells

I saw this at the 2006 Palm Springs International Film Festival and it's a really well done very visual short out of Scotland. It uses lots of bright surrealistic colors like a comic book much like the Beatty-Madonna Dick Tracy film did and great camera angles like the old Batman TV series. Mark and his two friends at school are very skeptical about a new boy who sits across from them in the school lunchroom. A legend has already swept through the school that his family are cannibals. Mark and a friend are invited to the Campbell family home for dinner and Mark's imagination is running wild on who these pretentiously friendly and seemingly normal people may be. Are they a normal family after all or something more sinister? Simon and Michelle Hynd wrote this imaginative story and Simon Hynd directs. Veteran actors Michelle Gomez and Derek Riddell play Mr. & Mrs Campbell and five child actors round out the cast of seven. I would give this an 8.0 out of 10.
