Reseña destacada
In the 90ies, Hermes Phettberg had his "Phettberg's Nette Lite Show" where he discussed with the creme of almost whole Austrian society. His broadcastings became cult-status. People discussed openly if Phettberg is an insane or a genius. There was no day where he was not in Austrian newspapers, books were written about him, and also films were made, mostly by his friend and respectful admirer Dr. Kurt Palm who also directed the hitherto newest Phettberg-movie "Phettberg, miserable one", about which Phettberg said that this is an obituary to his life-time.
Phettberg is an artistic multi-talent. He studied theology, became a stage-actor, wrote for the famous Viennese newspaper "Falter" his weekly columns "Phettberg's Sermon-Service" where he presented his fully unique interpretations of church and religion. However, his first profession as a pastoral assistant he lost because he openly confessed himself pedophile and homosexual. Therefore, in the years to come, two of his great engagements should be the foundation of a "University of Pornography and Prostituion" and of the "Polymorph-Perverse Clinic Vienna". Consistently high is his engagement for the liberation of gays and lesbians, his "brothers and sisters": One of his famous lectures, broadcast by the Austrian TV, he held in a public restroom, kneeling before a male-prostitute and starting at 5 o'clock in the morning.
In 2003-2004, under the direction of Thomas Holzinger, Phettberg had the first Austrian "Confessional Show" where he discussed most openly the "sins" of his confessing brothers and his own problems and sexual fantasies. Typical for Phettberg's argumentation is the unusual combination of metaphysical ideas and mental short-circuits. Since 2000, he also had an online-TV show for his sermons during which he let himself tie up and whip. In the years after, Hermes Phettberg suffered several strokes which let him lose more than half of his enormous body-mass and turned him into a physical and psychological wreck. As the film tells, Phettberg is now living from his journalist work and from social help.
