The Lark

I watched this one, among others, last week on vice-shorts.com and I really were pleasantly surprised about how good it actually was. The graphic illustrations ("black-white-style") as well as the visual imaginary are fantastic and captivate the viewer's eye from the first scene on. You won't find any verbal conversations between the characters as in the usual way and in my opinion, any (mis-)use of "common language" would have distracted our focus anyway and had probably kept us from concentrating on the more detailed/important/artistic aspects of the story. Also you are not a fan of the typical 'arthouse' genre or 'short films' in general, you really should spend 15minutes of your time and enjoy sth. absolutely 'different' - cause besides of the artistic point of view we should not forget to consider that the plot line itself works as a warning reminder of what still goes terribly wrong behind many (supposingly) 'happy families' closed doors ---
