I saw it as teacher, recognizing me in the traits of alchemy master. Recognizing, in same measure, few of my students in the traits of young Thibaut, pure soul, vulnerable and determined, not far by childhood but fascinated by his professor, knowing his limits and making fair decisions, demonstrating wisdome and courage in critical situations .

The nice dose of realism, from the eccentricity and egotism of teacher to the honesty of student are the pillars of this charming short animation.

So, in profound sense, seductive, smart crafted and preserving the flavors of old classic stories and the essence of study decades.

The Alchemists follows an alchemist intern and his master on a dangerous, action-packed journey to find a valuable gemstone. The short is filled with small, hilarious touches - like the booger dangling from the intern's nose, the master constantly forgetting the intern's name, and other little background gags that add humor without affecting the story. For a film that runs under six minutes, this animated short delivers a lot - it feels almost like a full episode condensed into just a few minutes. There's real potential here for a series featuring this quirky duo's adventures - and maybe, one day, we'd even get to learn the intern's name.
