  • Danson played Sam Malone on three different series: Cheers (1982), Los Simpson (1989) and Frasier (1993). He was one of the three actors who appeared in all 271 episodes of Cheers (1982). He chose to leave Cheers (1982), after 11 seasons as he was tired of playing Malone and the producers chose to end the series. He played the role for the last time on the spin-off series Frasier (1993).

  • President Bill Clinton and First Lady Hillary Clinton attended his 1995 wedding to Mary Steenburgen. Steenburgen had personally known Clinton since he was governor of Arkansas when she resided in Little Rock. The President celebrated his 51st birthday at the Martha's Vineyard home of the couple.
  • As of 2018, has appeared in one film that was nominated for the Best Picture Oscar: Rescatando al soldado Ryan (1998).
  • Danson appeared in episodes of the same three different series with both John Mahoney and Kelsey Grammer: Cheers (1982), Frasier (1993) and Becker (1998), although only in Frasier (1993) did Mahoney and Grammer play their signature roles of Martin and Frasier Crane, respectively.
  • He and Stephen Colbert are distant relatives, as revealed on the PBS series Puritans and Pioneers (2017).
