- TriviaSpent the last several years of his life in an apartment building in North Hollywood, CA. Although he and ex-wife Susan Hayward went through a bitter, contentious divorce in 1954 that dragged on for quite some time, friends who knew him during the latter part of his life said that he had photos of Susan all over the walls of his apartment, framed photos of her on desks and tables and had said many times that he had never gotten over the divorce and wished that it had never happened.
