Brent Fidler was born to play characters that have a spiritual impact, his first stage role at age six being the tavern owner that tossed Mary Magdalene out of the Inn and into the manger. Brent's theater and film company, Theater Crossing, has produced a wide variety of acclaimed productions in Canada and Los Angeles that celebrate the subtle interaction between the physical and spiritual worlds. His love for the gothic cannon has seen Brent play Dracula, Frankenstein, Dr. Jekyll & Mr. Hyde, and Edgar Allan Poe. One of his favorite roles was stepping into the skin of the iconic Sherlock Holmes. He has adapted his stage plays of Poe and Macbeth into screenplays and he has been optioned by accomplished Hollywood producer Doug Claybourne and Janis Chastin at New Line Cinema. The American government granted him a permanent resident card as "an alien of extraordinary ability". Brent concurs, at least about the alien part.
In Los Angeles, Mr. Fidler worked in a number of low budget Lion's Gate horror films, directed by Michael Feifer and Andy Hurst and had a career high working with Al Pacino in his self produced docu-drama Salomaybe, where he was treated to watching Janis Chastin performing the Dance of the Seven Veils.
Mr. Fidler is the proud recipient of a Best Actor in a Dramatic Series LEO award for his chilling work in Larry Sugar/ Frances Ford Coppola/ series "First Wave". He produced, starred in and directed the first feature film on the life of American horror legend Edgar Allan Poe. (www.poelastdaysoftheraven.com) and was nominated for a Best Director Gemini Award. Poe won Best feature film at the Cinema City International Film Festival, at Universal Studios in Los Angeles and aired nationally on Bravo.
His film and TV work has focused primarily in the sci-fi/fantasy/horror genres and can be seen in the upcoming series "Limetown" and "Batwoman."
Mr. Fidler has just completed his first novel Shadows of Nagasaki, a sci-fi nuclear karma tale about the nuclear shadow victims of the Nagasaki atomic bombing that re-animate as Yurei demons seeking revenge on the descendants of the Los Alamos Trinity project. Shadows will be launched just prior to the 75th anniversary of the atomic bombings of Japan in August 2020.
