Husband of actress and dancer Bela Bose. They fell in love and married in 1967 and had two children, a daughter named Manju Shri Nayar who became a doctor, and a son Abhijit, who became a businessman. Ashish died of an illness on November 23, 2013, while he and his wife were visiting their daughter and her family in Goa.
