David Lee-Jones

David Lee-Jones was born in Yeovil, England, and grew up in Somerset. He is mixed race and holds dual UK/US citizenship.
He studied English Literature at The University of York, and then trained as an actor at The Academy Drama School in London.
He is noted as the first actor of British East Asian descent to play a number of lead Shakespeare roles in UK theatre. These include four national tours as, respectively, Rosalind in an all-male "As You Like It" (2007), Benedick in "Much Ado About Nothing" (2008), Antonio in "The Merchant of Venice" (2009), and Richard in "Richard III" (2012). Recent stage work includes in the West End and for the Royal Shakespeare Company.
Since 2017, Lee-Jones has been a trustee of the charity Action for Children's Arts.
