A very raw outlook on the trials and tribulations of becoming and evolving as a up and coming stand up comedian. Well worth the watch. "the Makings of a Stand-Up Comedian" is a documentary that encompasses a lot of emotion from both the comics as well as finding a way to pull them out of the viewer. It helps to bring you into the mind of a comic. This film shows that although they may be funny on stage, in reality many comics are as troubled and depressed as the rest of the world, maybe even a bit more. It also explored the positive side of stepping on stage, and how for many it seems to be a calling not just a job. This film stared a few unknown(at least to me) comics as well as a couple who I believe would be known on a national scale i.e. Mason Pryor(son of legendary comic Richard Pryor). Overall, it was very well done. Those who are thinking about going into the business should take the time to watch and observe each comedian's struggles, knowing they will face similar ones. The rest of us can just enjoy the film!
