- TriviaWhen filmmaker Dan Marro approached Gary Giberson, the Mayor of Port Republic, New Jersey, Giberson bragged that he had witnessed the devil on several occasions, and then exclaimed that he would only do the interview if he was paid several thousand dollars. Giberson then boasted that all the networks wanted to interview him. None of them ever did.

I noticed that most of the critics who panned this program were expecting a horror FILM, and expressing displeasure when they did not get one. However, I viewed it expecting a documentary, and I was not disappointed. It was well-researched with several different viewpoints and accounts pertaining to the phenomenon, and the filmmaker ultimately leaves the conclusion up to the viewer to make the decision about whether the Jersey Devil is real, fictional or paranormal.
If there was one flaw, it might be that there wasn't much discussion about what the Jersey Devil MIGHT be, if not a paranormal (eg. ghost or phantasm) occurrence. Some authors have suggested a sandhill crane or large owl, both of which live in the Pine Barrens of New Jersey. People have sworn the Devil they saw bears no resemblance to anything avian, but when someone is in a high state of agitation or excitement, one's vision may easily be adversely affected. Yet this is never mentioned, or very lightly touched upon.
Other than that, the cinematography is well-done, the pace of the viewing is robust, with very little "slow" time within the video, and the cast and interviewees were quite sincere and believable.
In the end, I definitely recommend this selection for your collection if you (like me) have cryptozoology as a hobby.
