Sanjay Khan's most underrated grand tv series!!

Happy 75th Indian Independence day to All! Amongst the battles for the Indian subcontinent's independence from British Raj, the revolt of 1857 is a major one. Though many films and serials have touched on figures from the 1857 revolt, none of them has gone in as much depth as Sanjay Khan in his grand 2001 saga 1857 Kranti for Doordarshan. This is his third grand historical show after Tipu Sultan and The Great Maratha and it covers a lot of known and unknown characters of the revolt. The story starts with Fort William. Battle of Plassey and goes to Lucknow, Kanpur, Bithoor and of course to Jhansi and Delhi. Through this course, it covers Siraj Ud daulah, Bajirao 2, Tantia Tope, Pehwa Nnaji, Begum hazrat Mahal, Jagdish Singh, Rani Jhansi,Azeemullah and Bahadur Shah Zafar amongst others. Amongst the atrocities Britishers covered it also covers about benevolent British officer like Wheelers. All in all a great entertaining show by Sanjay Abbas Khan, which also let us know a lot about our history. The series was planned for 104 episodes but in the final cut only 52 came out .The series apart from being on YouTube is now available on OTT Voot as well so that it gets new viewers which it deserves!!
