I will admit. I hated this show almost immediately, but a) I'm into some of the guys, and b) I needed something I could put on TV and not feel guilty about if I had to get up and do just about anything else, so this was the perfect choice.
I suppose the problem is, this is a mockumentary, which more often fail than succeed, compounded by the fact that it's trying to be a parody of really icky "reality" shows, which manages not to make fun of the ickiness, merely to celebrate it... In a real "reality" series, the producers know who the villains are. The writers here don't seem to be clear enough... This is NOT like Seinfeld. That show acknowledged that, in the real world, those characters would all belong in prison for being such self-absorbed sociopaths. This show killed off the main character after the pilot, and you're left thinking, Damn, he lucked out!
