...Why is it so hard to get The Flintstones right anymore? I swear this is one property nobody can seem to get a decent grasp on these days. It's not a difficult concept to figure out and easy to execute for general audiences without coming across as either irritating, boring, or (too)childish, but apparently it is for Warner Bros. Animation.
Sorry, but this series is just a headache, there's nothing here to entertain old fans of the property and most likely the youngsters watching it will get bored and want to watch something else. The animation is just unappealing and terrible, I concur with one another comment saying they have seen better animation on YouTube, how can this be considered 'standard'? Granted, The Flintstones was never particularly a well-animated property but it had style and was mostly consistent. In terms of characterization, Pebbles gets a decent modernization and Jessica DiCicco does a nice job voicing her, but Bamm-Bamm...Damn, have they done this character all wrong. Never mind that he sounds too adult he is very annoying, a brute, and not very bright, quite the contrast to previous portrayals where he's kind-hearted and bright to reflect how well the Rubbles raised him to be. Speaking of which, what have they done to Barney? Granted he's not exactly a rocket scientist compared to Fred but he is more reliable and quick witted and very caring to Betty, here he's not much different than Fred. The voice acting is a mixed bag in terms of performances, DiCicco, Bergman, MacNielle, and Kevin-Richardson are fine but the guy they have voicing Bamm-Bamm just doesn't work and Grey Griffin...Why do they keep making her the voice of Betty, again? She doesn't sound like her much in the first place and her performance feels too much like a caricature, so many other actresses would do better at replicating the original voice.
