Here's the thing. Just because the film has no super stars or it is a simple thriller doesn't make it a breakthrough or any good if not great film.
Quite a lot of problems from a writer's perspective. I'll get to what's good later.
The lead actress looks clueless in every scene. Her wide eyes at times and shimmering eyes at times made me laugh at odd times. She never has the body language of a police officer. There's a lot of characters wasted in the film and under development of characters, unnecessary characters wasting the moments in the film. Sudharani's character, her husband, prakash belavadi, his wife, the Commissioner all have badly written characters. The first half is so slow and nothing happening. The very beginning of the film until the film title appears on screen has been tried to be shown as a thrilling beginning but has nothing to be thrilling about and hence a very badly opened film for a thriller.
The first case she works on is left to the dogs the moment a second one arrives. The connection takes way too long to connect and thus there is disconnection between the two cases because of the time gap. I have no idea who the police are beating in one scene. Throughout the film, her boss is wearing police uniform but she isn't. What the hell is this?
As for the 2nd half, sudharani and her husband's characters are so calm though they are facing a probable tragedy. The guy who traces calls looks like he is listening to music on his laptop. I laughed at that. A crime branch officer going here and there and asking questions and demanding things with citizens without actually introducing herself - Seriously? What's with the commissioner's hatred towards the lead character, why was he speaking to her rudely throughout the film, from the very beginning to the very end? So many continuity errors in acting too.
The climax is so, so cliche and the villain is so calm and has no power in acting, character and the dialogues are so badly written. Sudha Rani's acting/ charcter is so bad. Even after knowing who did what, the cop lady doesn't do anything. What the hell is going on? The final walk is a walk of shame - a cop who never wore make-up (on screen) wears lipstick, who never wore the police uniform, picks up her uniform and walks. Why?
As for whats good, is that unlike most Kannada films, this film has no 'raising voice' dialogues, the lead character is a fresh face, that's it.
The scene just before the interval is so bad, I wanted to quit watching but I went on because this was more like an indie film and I wanted to give it a go. I so badly wanted this film to work because such films prove we don't need the 'super stars' whose films have only style and some horribly written dialogues but this film was such a disappointment.
