- TriviaSubmitted to the British Board of Film Censors by Eagle Lion as "Teheran" and passed with a "U" certificate on 30 July 1946. Eventually, on 12 February 1947, UK distributor General Film arranged a preview at the Tatler, Charing Cross Road (one showing at 10:30 for press and trade only). Opened in London on 30 June 1947 at the Odeon cinemas in Rayners Lane and Kingsbury, supporting La dama y el fantasma (1947) and was then used as a general programme filler round the rest of the country. In 1953 new distributor Greenspan and Seligman bought the film and re-submitted it to the BBFC as "Appointment in Persia", passing with a "U" certificate on 26 March 1953, but chopped down from 86 minutes to 74 minutes. Previewed at the Hammer Theatre, Wardour Street on 21 May 1953 (2:15 pm). After serving as a supporting film up to mid-1954, the film was sent yet again to the BBFC with another new title, "Conspiracy in Teheran". Passed with a "U" certificate on 1 December 1954, it was doing the rounds again during 1955, although many British film goers must have been confused to find themselves watching the same film three times under three different titles.

The first reviewer has given the details of the plot. When this film was made stories told in flashback where very much in fashion. It is difficult to know why.The premise of the story is interesting. It has been used many times since. However to do this sort of film well you need experienced actors,a script which is able to maintain tension and an effective director, sadly this film has none of them. This is an Italian-British co production made in Rome. The only British actor is Derek Farr.As for the rest they would appear to be continental actors who could speak English .Imagine this film starring Bogart ,Litre and Greenstreet and it would at least be watchable. There is no tension since you know that such a plot did not succeed.Maybe this contributes to the uninspired direction.
