Adventure thriller, Eastern. The final part of the trilogy about the elusive Avengers, released four years after the original picture. And I watched this part as a child not without pleasure, although even then I liked it less than the first two parts, and now, after reviewing it again, I was only convinced of this. The creators had to stop at the second part. And here's my brief opinion for you - Running errands for the crown. And, since the third part is weak, therefore, I will tell you about both the unconditional advantages and the obvious disadvantages that literally pull the picture into the niche of the "passing middle man". We put an end to the introduction, we proceed to the analysis.
So, the absolute advantages: 1. Scenario - four friends, known by the nickname "The Avengers", were needed by the Motherland again, because the white emigration is hatching plans to steal a Large Imperial Crown directly from the museum, and our old acquaintances are involved in this case: staff Captain Ovechkin, Colonel Kudasov, Lieutenant Perov, ataman Burnash and some other dubious personalities. Adventures are waiting for us again, but not only in Soviet Russia, but also in Paris - the actual center of all the unfinished White Guard riffraff, who "waves his fists after a fight." The newly beloved heroes are fighting for a just cause, again they are opposed by insidious enemies, again the audience is worried about the "avengers". The dialogues did not fail this time either, the finale pleases the audience. Not the pinnacle of screenwriting, but it's quite good for an adventure picture.
2. Songs - the famous "Chase" (which became the hallmark of the entire series), songs of the heroine Lyudmila Gurchenko, "Hide behind bars" that Yashka performed, and so on. In general, the music here is good, and there is much more of it than in the first and second picture. Composer Jan Frenkel tried his best (he even played a small role in the film), but the song "The War Sleeps Deafly" did not come to me at all. And a few others.
3. Chases, fights, shootouts - chases and fights are staged very well here and look clearly better than in the first and second parts, but shootouts on the contrary. I'm sorry, but the final shootout on the ship is a joke to the chickens. It no longer resembles a tense fight, but rather looks like clowning. And I'm not talking about technical performance, but about the entertainment of this moment. Other shootouts don't look exciting either. Apparently the creators got a little carried away.
4. Characters - both old and new arouse interest, they show the features of real people, everyone has their own motives and beliefs, you can understand their logic. And some (for example, Colonel Kudasov) have revealed themselves here even from an unexpected side, which pleases.
So, the obvious disadvantages: 1. Logic - how did Ovechkin survive? Why all the kotovasia with Kudasov? What was in the Odessa catacombs? And the check on the train? And these are just the questions that I remembered offhand, but if you figure it out, the script will start to undermine. And if in the first and second parts such questions practically did not arise due to brevity and entertainment, then there is no escape from them. Alas, questions will remain unanswered.
2. Tightness - the picture is stretched to indecency, which is perfectly associated with one of the supporting characters (an elderly guide in a museum). It is clear that part of this delay went to the songs, part to the long final shootout, and the rest went to stretching the timing by showing the bohemian life of the whites in Paris. Why was the latter necessary? I don't know either. It was necessary to shorten the picture by at least forty minutes, throwing out and editing unnecessary scenes - and it would have turned out to be a spectacular adventure.
Even humor is not enough here, which is sad.
A little about the main characters: 1. "The Avengers" performed by Viktor Kosykh, Valya Kurdyukova, Misha Metelkin and Vasya Vasiliev are four heroes of the Civil War, and now OGPU employees, who are again sent on a dangerous mission, where they will face old acquaintances, and win again, despite all the machinations of enemies. The actors did well and again coped superbly with the roles!
2. Staff Captain Ovechkin, played by Armen Dzhigarkhanyan, is a former counterintelligence officer of the Wrangel army, who this time decided to circle our "Avengers" and pull off such a combination that all the intelligence services of the world should gasp. That's what it's impossible to argue with, so it's with the fact that in this picture Armen Borisovich was allowed to play out to the fullest. His scoundrel turned out to be even more charming than in the second picture. Bravo Armen Borisovich! Bravo!
3. Colonel Kudasov, played by Arkady Tolbuzin, is the former head of counterintelligence of Wrangel's army, who remained idle after emigration, and is now maneuvering among the unfinished riffraff. Here he also revealed himself as a comical character. Arkady Nikolaevich was great. Bravo!
The picture this time did not find much love from the audience, so there could be no question of a sequel, but only the creators had to stop at the second part, well, okay, we have what we have. And although I have nostalgic feelings for this picture, but I have no right to evaluate it as highly as the first two, because the disadvantages will greatly obscure my eyes.
As I have already said, my favorite part of the entire trilogy for me is the second (as well as many other viewers).
My rating is 6 out of 10. About the recommendation - see for yourself. It's better to look at the first two or reconsider!
