Nicholas Nickleby

While it is slow for modern sensibilities the viewer is rewarded for the investment because the characters really come to life true to their dickensian tone. Pretty much all of the novel is adapted, even if this means it can be overly slow at certain parts. Nigel Havers, while not a fantastic actor, does a good job at portraying nickleby as a likeable and optimistic young man. Watch the 2001 TV movie and 2002 Hollywood butchering after seeing this and you will find this must be respected as a very faithful version, the best by far we have to date.
