The Erotic Artist

In recent decades, the wall-to-wall sex film has become the dominant format, but THE EROTIC ARTIST is an unusual example of an all-sex film made at the dawn of the hardcore era. It more closely resembles a padded-to-the-nth-power loop, than a feature film.

Norman Fields plays an artist named Sketch, and film consists simply of him sketching an orgy-full of both male and female models, copulating non-stop. The only diversion is when one model, Shannon (Cleo O'Hara) balks at joining in, only to be convinced by a stud one-on-one.

Later on my least favorite porn actor, Henry Farris, shows up to be serviced by two girls. Ric Lutze is another late starter, not yet having adopted the puddin' bowl hairdo he sported for the rest of his career.

For latterday fans it's not surprising that Fields refuses to join in the action; he was a staple in many softcore roles but I can't recall him ever joining in on the XXX action.

No music is used at all in this film, making its bloated running time (a good 20 minutes or so longer than its peers) seem even more tedious. Photography is mainly real-time, with the camera roving around and zooming in for a closeup.
