I haven't lived in this country much time to say I know anything about its film history but I can say one thing, this CANNOT be considered Panama's first movie. Now don't get me wrong, I honestly respect Mr.Carrasquilla and I applaud him for even getting up and trying to make a movie in Panama. Not to mention that Panama is a country with no filming background, this is very disappointing. Now I need to be honesty, I do believe Mr.Carrasquilla failed to make a successful movie do to lack of experience and dedication writing his script. The movie does not look professional, the script it self was poorly written like if he felt like filming anything that day and grabbed his next door neighbors 8mm, and let her rip. I mean it's a good laugh if you're with a bunch of friends and want to bash a poorly executed low budget movie (nothing wrong with low budget movies). You might dose off in certain scenes, though. I mean Mr.Carrasquilla just doesn't cut his material or simply is in love with his own words. Most of the scenes were to long and pointless and the whole story doesn't really make sense.
Like I said, I want to applaud Mr.Carrasquilla for trying. As a fellow screenwriter and director living in Panama, I know it's not easy down here. No one supports us and quite frankly no one really cares. Sadly the movie was horribly executed, the script is horrible and the directing was worst then bad. Let's wait for his other movie, hopefully he'll learn from his mistakes and make something worth watching.
