- TriviaThe translation for the individual characters of the Wrath of Heaven is:
- Rin - Confront
- Pyo - Soldier
- Tho - Battle/Fight
- Sha - One/Person
- Kai - Everybody/Entire
- Jin - Formation
- Retsu - Row
- Zai - Presence
- Zen - Forward
- These definitions are merely direct translations and do not represent the true meaning of the "Seal of 9 Characters". The 9 Kanji characters do not have independent definitions. The spell only makes sense when you hear the full sentence as follows: "Nozomeru Hei, tatakau mono, kaijin wo hari, retsu wo tukutte, mae ni ari" Which Means: "Confronting Soldiers, Ones that battle, everybody making a formation, making a row, and is present in front". So in other words, the spell is a warning to the evil spirits that the army of God is nearing, so leave immediately.
- ErroresThe nature of Japanese construction - much of which is paper suspended on wooden frames - should make it impossible for a person silhouetted by light to sneak up on someone on the other side of a wall, but this was not factored into the game.

After being a fan of the first Tenchu game on the first playstation, i was disappointed by the second game and my interest in Tenchu diminished (how long can you keep playing the same levels?). But when i heard there was a new game coming out, and they were going back to basics like in the first game, i knew i would have to purchase it.
Story: There are 3 separate storylines. Trying to explain them would take all day as they get very confusing and vary on each level. But the story suits the atmosphere of the game, i would never expect a metal gear type storyline as that would be totally impossible since it is set in the 16th century.
Graphics: The graphics are not the most stand-out thing about the game, they compete with mosts things on the market and that is fine for a game like this. Some things are blocky and look a bit square, whereas as other things are really detailed, like your sword shimmering for example. The level designs are varied, form caves to forests to graveyards, everything is mixed up well...however i would have liked more roof action. Every level looks splendid and fits the tone very well.
Music: The music is fantastic, no other word. Like the first game, it adds amass amount of atmosphere and really sets the tone of each level. It is very eastern and authentic but it is varied, for example...if a level is more bizarre than the previous, the music will be more erratic and represent this...if in a calm village, the music will slow down...but there will always be a sense of danger.
Gameplay: The best feature of the game...simple as. Stealth is the main aim, whether you are hiding on a rooftop, waiting for a moment to strike or pressed up against a wall waiting for an enemy to pass...you have to be silent. People may ask why bother? this is genius by the makers, there is incentive to use stealth (as well as it being a lot of fun), if you make 10 stealth kills you are rewarded with a new ability...again these are brilliant, being able to cling to the ceiling while an enemy walks by underneath or faking your own death so an opponent will near you. If you receive grandmaster rating you unlock more great items...so all these things just encourage you to play the game the way it should be played. I doubt anyone can complain at the gameplay, the A.I could be better, but it actually fits with the game...there are so many things i could say about the gameplay, but im tired now...so just go out and buy it
