Unfortunately, since there were only 12 countries competing in the 1970 Eurovision Song Contest, The Dutch TV broadcaster, NOS, had to pad out the show by coming up with video postcard introductions for each country participating. This was mainly due to the fact, that a lot of countries were angry that there was a 4-way tie at the previous ESC in 1969, and most of them boycotted the program. Unfortunately, there weren't that many good performances in this show. Ireland's Dana won for her sleepy song, "All Kinds of Everything". Even Spain's Julio Iglesias, who's a GOOD singer, drowned out his sorrows in "Gwendolyne". Obviously, he didn't look too happy to be there, as well as most of the singers there with the exception for Dana, only because she won. Luxembourg's David Alexandre Winter stumbled through his song, which got him in last place with no votes, and Yugoslavia's Eva Srsen looked sleepy singing her song. Some honorable mentions go to Switzerland's Henri Des, with his happy tune, Retour, and Monaco's Dominique Dussault using the stage to play tribute to her favorite actress, Marlene Deitrich, in what else?, "Marlene", or trying to be like her musical idol, Edith Piaf.
