STAR RATING:*****Unmissable****Very Good***Okay**You Could Go Out For A Meal Instead*Avoid At All Costs
Daytime TV has always been an eponymously dreary affair. From 9 to 5 (most peoples normal working hours),it seems an endless sludge of nonchalent, vacuous talk shows, daft, melodramatic soap operas, and tired old repeats of ancient shows from the 80s and 70s.So,in consideration,it was probably,if nothing else,an inspired idea to think up a show to fill a gap in the endless void of drivel those unfortunates without work are subjected to.Unfortunately, when they get it all wrong, they get it all wrong........as is pretty much the case here.
TV veteran Des O' Connor and Melanie Sykes,a former model who is probably most famous for her part in a certain Boddingtons beer advert, were probably paired together to appeal to a broad TV audience,Des to his old time fans who like his style of presenting and Mel to younger, not to mention more male, viewers.Sadly, their styfling and abundant lack of chemistry is apparent throughout and their lack of style and panache when delivering punchlines is just plain embarrassing. It might not hurt them to have a greater variety of guests either (how many more times is Joey bloody Pesquale going to be on there?),as this only adds to the drearyness of it.
This is certainly a good idea.ITV just have to figure out how to get it right.**
