The Yang Ban Xi The 8 Model Works is a film with awesome history and footage you don't know where to begin! This is a film which details China's approved performing troupe during the Cultural revolution. They made some AWESOME color filmed propaganda pieces set to unbelievably pro-communism songs. These types of films I would LOVE to see again, as they seem to be waaay over the top and just amazing! Anyways, the film largely explores these films, and talks to some of the surviving actors who were in these productions. Now, this is great so far! The film totally falls on it's face though, when the filmmakers rather bizarrely do modern interpretations of the songs used in these films. No reason is given for this, it's as if the whole film takes a break for this video. Other then that (very large) problem. This film is worth a look!
