Original (that is to say, non-parody) horror-porn hybrids are rare, so I was excited when I discovered Blood Lake, more so when it turned out to be a slasher. But when I watched the film, my joy quickly dissipated, because it was Godawful on just about every level.
The story is simple, seeing as how it's just a lazy rehash of The Evil Dead's plot. A group of mostly interchangeable people go to some cabins, where they find an old book that summons the ghost of an evil preacher. What follows is a tedious series of extremely non-erotic sex scenes, and slow motion shots of the villain wandering around. People eventually start dying, but even this is devoid of any entertainment value, since the killing is as inept as the screwing, and everything else in this technical nightmare of a film which seems to have had most the speech (including the sex noises) added in post-production, which is as mind-numbing as you can imagine.
After a confusing mess of a scene involving a couple in one of the cabins (the killer somehow wounds the boyfriend, sends him running, and takes his place in a bed without the girl noticing) the limp finale occurs, the obligatory "It's not over!" bit is shown, the credits role, and I rub my temples, sigh, and say "At least it was only 110 minutes".
Avoid this like an STD.
