The Big Ride

Good opening episode. The highlight was the Black Noir opening sequence. Although, I will admit I was hoping a certain character that dies in that scene was going to play a bigger part in the season. He reminded me of Scott Adkins.

I also really enjoy when they talk about demographics and polling - so the Homelander & Ashley scenes were very entertaining. Especially the one involving Blindspot.

Other standouts were The Deep & what I'm guessing will be Homelander vs Edgar feud throughout the season.

The perfect way to re-introduce us to the world of The Boys. We get great music, some action but more importantly a reminder of the situation that the protagonists are in.

Once again The Boys delivers spectacularly with its writing and execution. It's well-paced, well-acted and well-shot. It handles its characters excellently and, once again, has some very cleverly-told social commentary on the media and society in general. Overall, a very well-directed episode that will surprise and entertain most people.

I wasn't a big fan of the hughie and starlight drama or the boys focused drama in season 1 and it remains. Ep has many highlights from two new supers shown in a hilarious way, Homelander losing it, and clever writing.

The scene in the metro with Hughie and Annie; not the best acting ever but right up there at least. The subtlety of the facial expressions, combined with authentic dialogue. It's amazing really, how wildly superior this is to most of the absolute garbage I've seen recently. Almost as if I forgot what a good production looks like, but maybe that's the goal of this flood of mediocrity.

The comical, gruesome violence works really well for me but that might be a personal. I just keep laughing out loud whenever someone explodes like a watermelon.

Plot wise. Well, it's the first episode of a new season. The set ups for the main and sub plots are intriguing and we've yet to see if they're gonna pay off satisfactorily.

The direction/cinematography is nothing new or spectacular but it serves its purpose at least.
