When the movie opened, the Folha de S Paulo newspaper went to cinemas in the cities of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro but found the screenings were half-empty or empty, despite it being a box-office success. Customers said they had been given tickets by their local Universal church, an institution which owns the production company of this film.
