Just Another Girl on the MTA

Gossip Girl: We started off painting on cave walls - representations of what we saw and knew to be true: that bear, the sun, ourselves. But very soon facts of family and fire turned into fables. That bear? vanquished. The sun? A god. And us? Anything we wanted to be. And we've never gone back. There's a reason we call the act of relating something telling a story. We say it even when it's true. We also say it when it's a lie. Oh, have I got a story for you. Do you wanna hear something crazy? You will not believe what I'm about to tell you. Which is how we got to today. It's all a story now. And we love to tell it. It doesn't matter if it's real. It doesn't matter if it happened to you or if you did it. It only matters if I say you did. Because what they realized then is still true now: the only thing that makes a story interesting is how it's told, and who's telling it. I told you, you couldn't hide from me. I told you I saw you.
