Secret Files 2:Puritas Cordis tries too hard to be tongue in cheek. And while I appreciate the effort in delivering this kind of humor I just couldn't bring myself to laugh as the makers probably wanted me to. The original had a much more serious tone with the occasional humor that in the end worked much better since it put the focus on the story. In Puritas Cordis the story is not that important and even cheesier than in the original. The real change however is in the game play. The makers of the game really went Lucas Arts style with certain inventory puzzles. As there is almost no logic in doing certain things in order to advance. I understand that some fans of the adventure genre really love these kind of puzzles. To me this is a tedious affair and stands in the way of enjoying the game. The visuals are the same as in the original which were breathtaking. The 2,5 D style make this game really look good. Although sometimes the animation was a bit clunky. It easily can be measured with other titles that have incorporated 3D. More important is the fact that this game can be played smoothly even on low end machines.(And that is a big plus since I am one of those people that owns a low end machine). Overall this game is a decent sequel that offers your typical adventuring that sadly is less fun to play compared to the original.
