Falling In Love At Christmas (2021) -
This Cinderella inspired film was okay, but certainly not the best that I've seen this season.
Alicia Dea Josipovic in the role of Miranda was really quite obnoxious for assuming the worst of him and her behaviour towards him was unpleasant to say the least. It was difficult to see how Travis Nelson, playing Paul could fall for her and I really did struggle to believe their relationship. I didn't think that she was ready to settle down with a man who already had a child and I definitely thought that she needed to spend more time with the kid to make the connection between them all seem more feasible. She may have won over Paul (Somehow), but she barely had any interaction with his son Ryan, who might not have liked her that much and the whole affair would be over just like that.
The online romance was sweet though. That was when I got to see how kind and nice the pair actually were, but there wasn't enough of that either and it was hard to pair it with their behaviour towards each other in real life. She was certainly very abrupt and I didn't think that she deserved him at all. Having said that, while he was very cute, his character didn't seem like he wanted or needed someone romantic in his life. He had his kid and his job and seemed happy like that, but at least he was open to her values.
Veronica, the influencer was also very annoying. I thought that the film could have worked better without her and should have spent more time focusing on the other two/three including Ryan the son.
And Lesbians again! I love that these films are becoming more diverse and that more and more people are being represented, but what I'm getting tired of is the saturation of lesbians just for the sake of it. I would say that 75% of these made for TV films that I've watched this year have had a friend character who's a lesbian. Add them, because it's a natural thing to have, not just because the statistics show films need more representation in order to gain more viewers. The friendships don't feel as genuine because of it and the same sex dating element seems like it is just shoved in for ratings, because there is hardly any coverage of it.
I'm also not sure that I would have been that bothered about losing that glove.
I might try watching it again to see if I feel any differently in a very distant future, but not until I've seen so many others first.
5/10.
